Hand tightening restores the skin tone of the forearms, eliminates excess volume. Sometimes the procedure is combined with liposuction or other forms of plasticity.

Brachioplasty is a plastic surgery aimed at removing excess skin and correction of fatty tissue located in the upper arm - from shoulder to elbow.

With age, the skin in the area from elbow to shoulder begins to sag, the cause is a decrease in the production of elastin and collagen, which leads to ptosis (prolapse) of tissues. Skin loses firmness and elasticity, causing the skin to sag and accumulate adipose tissue. Young women may also have similar problems, in case of significant weight loss.

Because of this unaesthetic appearance, many women stop wearing short-sleeved clothing. The reason for the sagging of the skin of the hands is not only age-related changes, the defect may appear as a result of discontinuation of sports activities, which leads to the development of dystrophic processes or after liposuction. Get rid of flabby and sagging skin on your hands, restore attractive contours will allow surgical hand skin plastics.

Indications for shoulder and hand plastics

  • age-related tone reduction and reduction in the volume of the tricephalic and bicephalic muscles;
  • excess fat deposits on the inner surface of the hands;
  • sagging and stretching of the skin;
  • sagging after fast weight loss.

Brachioplasty methods

Depending on the scale of the surgical intervention and the volume of excess tissue, Dr. Bebykh chooses the technique of plasticizing the upper arms. There are two main methods for this surgical correction:

Transaxillary brachioplasty.

Transaxillary brachioplasty (ellipsoidal removal of excess tissue) is performed with a small incision in the armpit socket and removal of the ellipsoidal skin area. By fixing and tightening the skin in a new position, the sagging is removed. This method is suitable for the removal of a small part of the skin. Transaxillary brachioplasty can be combined with lipoplasty and abdominoplasty.

Expanded brachioplasty

Extended (transaxillary) brachioplasty is used to remove a significant surplus of tissue. The surgeon makes a long incision (the shape of the incision can be S-shaped and T-shaped (if the pronounced sagging of the skin) on the inner side of the shoulder from the elbow joint to armpit. He dissects the tissue and sutures it. Extended tightening is particularly effective in cases of low elasticity (liposuction is difficult or impossible).

With this method it is possible to remove sagging skin from the hands, to correct the entire shoulder area and upper forearm.

Brachioplasty of the hands

Before you can remove sagging skin on your hands, you should take a number of tests and undergo additional examinations. The duration of the operation is 1.5-2.5 hours depending on the method of manipulation. Before the correction, the doctor makes markings and disinfects the operated area. Hand plasty is performed under general anesthesia. The doctor makes incisions, removes excess tissue, lightly tightens and stitches the skin. Finally, a bandage made of elastic bandages is applied.

Important! Before surgery, you should tell us about all the allergic reactions to the drugs and especially to anesthesia. It is also worth mentioning the medications that are taken on a regular basis.

Contraindications for the operation

Shoulders and arms lift are not carried out if there are the following contraindications: mastectomy, chronic and infectious diseases, heart diseases, respiratory diseases, diseases of internal organs, hyperhidrosis, diabetes, excessive sweating in the armpit cavities, dermatological diseases on the hands, poor blood clotting, high obesity and metabolic disorders.

Rehabilitation period after hand-lifting

The first week after a hand lift may feel painful in the area of the suture, the patient is in hospital for 1-3 days under medical supervision. The sutures are removed on day 10-14. During the recovery process, special compression sleeves should be worn for about a month. For 1.5-2 months it is necessary to restrict the movement of the hand, avoid physical activity, do not go to the sauna, pool and regularly come for check-ups.

The scar is formed within six months and becomes invisible, acquiring color of the surrounding tissue. After 2 months, the result can be assessed.
